Laid out from 1924 by the industrialist Max von Gimborn and now cared for by Utrecht University, the Von Gimborn Arboretum spreads across 27 hectares of sandy ridge. It is planted as a geographic and thematic tree collection, strongest in conifers, maples and rhododendrons.
Best for: a spacious, restorative walk among remarkable trees.
